Rootdent
Dental product based on MTA for filling perforations and retrograde filling of root canals
Working time: 2–4 minutes
Curing time: 12–15 minutes*
*Initial setting time
Calcium oxide, mixed with distilled water, cures and turns into calcium hydroxide, which is high alkaline medium (pH~12). Then amorphous calcium hydroxide reacts with oxides of silicon and aluminum to form active silicates and strengthens the cement matrix.
The resulting alkaline cement has antibacterial properties and stimulates apexogenesis (in the treatment of teeth with unformed roots), stops bone resorption, and stimulates the formation of secondary dentin in the caries treatment.
The material has high biocompatibility, low solubility (less than 3 %) and mechanical strength.
INDICATIONS
- Retrograde filling of the root canals in the surgical treatment of periodontitis
- Filling of the apical part of the canal with unformed roots
- Closure of perforation (bifurcation/trifurcation) in the root canal or tooth cavity with external resorption of the tooth root
- Therapeutic pulp capping to maintain its viability in the treatment of deep caries and all reversible forms of pulpitis.
- Direct pulp capping after tooth pulpotomy
ADVANTAGES
- Hardens in moisture or blood
- Controlled curing time
- High mechanical resistance
- Excellent biocompatibility
- Low solubility
- High alkalinity (рН > 12) and microbicidal activity
